Chapelle-Chambertin is situated south of the Gevrey village just below Clos-de-Bèze on the other side of the Route des Grand Crus. Originally a

small chapel stood here (Notre Dame de Bèze) until it was destroyed in 1830. This 5.5 hectare Grand Cru vineyard faces east on a well-drained

moderate slope with shallow pebbly soils. Here the bedrock is mainly Comblanchien limestone except for a narrow band of calcaire à entroques

in the upper section.

From a 0.60 hectare parcel of vines, the oldest planted in 1945. A deep ruby-red colour with beautifully complex dark pinot fruit aromas, earthy

undertones. On the palate the wine is rich and concentrated while still retaining a sense of elegance. Plenty of depth here supported by round

tannins that exude some minerality on the long persistent finish.
