A fully mature if still quite fresh and elegant nose of maturing red and dark pinot fruit aromas that are laced with plenty
of earth character precedes medium-bodied flavors that also offer plenty of Gevrey earth plus excellent depth and length
on the mineral-driven finish. While the acidity is bright it is not drying or austere in the fashion of many less well-balanced
'96s today. To my taste this vintage of Clos des Fontenys is drinking perfectly now and if well-stored should continue to do
so for at least another decade.
